Prescription Drug Benefit

Generic and Brand Name Drugs

To reduce your costs, all generic drugs are paid 100 percent by LSU First after your Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) dollars are exhausted. If you choose a brand name drug over an available generic drug, you will be responsible for the difference.

Prescriptions are automatically filled with an available generic equivalent unless otherwise directed by your physician.

Please keep in mind you can only fill up to a 30-day supply at retail. For up to a 90-day supply, you must utilize home delivery through Express Scripts.

Home Delivery (Mail Order)

You can request home delivery service either by calling 1-866-929-5781 and speaking to an Express Scripts Patient Care Advocate or by mailing in a home delivery mail order profile to Express Scripts along with your prescription.

Refills can be delivered to you automatically until your prescription expires or you can order them online at www.express-scripts.com or by calling 1-866-929-5781. You must send Express Scripts a new prescription from your doctor once your current prescription has expired.

It is easy to convert an existing prescription to home delivery. Express Scripts will contact your doctor for you and obtain all necessary information.

Compounded Medications

You must log onto the Express Scripts member portal at www.express-scripts.com to view any prescription history or accumulation of prescriptions to your deductible and/or co-insurance. Please call 1-866-929-5781 to speak with an Express Scripts Patient Care Advocate if you need help navigating through the Web site. NOTE: You will not be able to see prescription drug information on mycigna.com.

Compounded medications are drugs which must be formulated by the pharmacist. Unfortunately, most pharmacies providing these types of medications do not accept insurance, so you will have to pay at the time of service and submit a reimbursement form to Express Scripts.

Some compounded medications are not FDA approved. For your safety, LSU First only covers medications that are FDA approved.
